Welcome to the Pioneer Library!

Our school has an extensive library program and we hope students will visit the library often. Each class has a weekly, regularly scheduled library time. Primary students take part in a rich, literature based program where they are exposed to some of the best new books, award winning books, and authors and illustrators. The intermediate grades meet weekly with a credentialed Teacher Librarian for an information literacy program consisting of internet skills, research strategies, and literature based projects. The library offers many reading incentive programs such as the California Young Reader Medal Program, Third Grade Battle of the Books, and the Intermediate Grades Battle of the Books. The library also hosts a Book Fair during fall and spring parent conference weeks.

May I renew my books

Yes. Students may renew any book up to one time.

What if I lose or damage my library book(s)?

Don’t worry, it happens. Per DJUSD Board Policy 3260, a student will not be denied library access due to any book fines. However, if a student has a fine due to a damaged or lost book, that student may only check out one book at a time until the fine is paid.

How do I pay lost or damaged book fees?

Book fines can be paid on the Pioneer webstore under “Library Payment - Lost and Damaged Books.” Questions or concerns may be directed to the Pioneer Library.

Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Davis Joint Unified School District libraries is to foster a lifelong love and habit of reading, while promoting skills and literacy in the ethical and effective use of information and technology among all students. This is accomplished by the instruction of teacher librarians supported by technicians, who work collaboratively with faculty and staff and oversee the provision of a wide variety of print and electronic resources.
