Pioneer Newsletter 10-30-22

Dear Pioneer Families,

We just finished our Red Ribbon Week! It was great to see all the trees with red ribbons on (thanks PTA!) and seeing all the students dress up for Spirit Week!!

Halloween (October 31st):

To keep the focus on learning, we will not have costumes at school on Halloween. However, we are inviting families to wear costumes during our Fall Festival on Sunday, October 16th 12-3pm so that students can still celebrate Halloween with their families and our community but not during instructional time.

Youth Truth Survey (October 31st-November 18th):

DJUSD has a survey called Youth Truth that is given to Pioneer faculty, students (3rd-6th graders), and families. Here is the link to the parent survey  ytsurvey.org/piostaff22. This will only take around 15 minutes to complete and this is your chance to give feedback about how Pioneer is doing so far (academics, behavior, culture/climate, etc)! This survey opens tomorrow (October 31st) and ends on November 18th. We would appreciate your feedback so that we as a faculty can learn and grow from it!

Book Fair

Come one! Come all! To the Greatest Book Fair on Earth!  In just a few short weeks our library will be transformed into a mind-blowing circus and we can’t wait to see you there!

When: November 14-18

Times: Before school 7:30am-8:30am (NEW TIME!)

   During Lunch 11:35am-1:15pm

   After School/During conferences 1:30pm-3:30pm

The PTA cannot put on this event without your help. Please consider signing up to volunteer during the book fair. Sign-Up Genius link HERE.

The PTA is also looking to borrow a few items from our families that they promise to return after the fair is over:

· Market string lights, like the ones from Costco.  If we can’t find these to borrow we would consider white Christmas lights.

· Stuffed animals that are typically at a circus: lion, tiger, zebra, giraffe, seal, elephant.  The larger the better!

· Very Large boxes (to make train cars)

Picture Retake Day (Thursday, November 8th)

If your student didn’t take a picture on Picture Day or you would like a new image, Dorian Studio will be taking pictures at Pioneer again on Thursday, November 8th. Orders may be placed online by searching for Pioneer at mydorian.com and selecting the green Order button next to your school retake day event. Online orders are available up to 4 days after retake day. If you already ordered and want a new picture taken please be sure to return your original picture packet to the photographer on retake day.
