Weekly News and Events - March 8th

Pioneer Families,

In a year filled with changes and transitions, I once again want to thank you for partnering with us as we continue to engage in teaching and learning through a global pandemic. I believe in thinking and modeling positivity. Thus I am excited about what is currently happening on our campus now and what will take place as we move forward.

Yolo County returned to the Red Tier, with this week making it two weeks in which we are in the Red Tier. Also, educational employees are now prioritized in Yolo County, and close to 90% of DJUSD employees have received at least the first dose of the vaccination.

With the positive developments on the distribution of vaccines, and our county being in the Red for almost 14 days, we are very close to meeting the two external conditions needed to re-open our school. As a result, on Thursday night at the DJUSD Board Meeting, it was announced that we will return to campus in a Hybrid instructional model the week of April 12. This will be dependent on Yolo County remaining in the Red Tier and a steady supply of vaccines for second doses.

Please visit the DJUSD Return To Campus website (https://www.djusd.net/covid-19). The following are a few reminders and updates.

Extracurricular and Co-Curricular After School Activities

We are in the process of finalizing staffing for extracurricular and co-curricular after-school activities for our students that will take place in-person and on campus. Our first offering is Sports for Learning. Sports for Learning is a program that will teach students games while incorporating social-emotional Learning. We will offer four sessions. Session 1 (March 8th-April 2nd), Session 2 (April 5-April 23), Session 3 (April 26-May 14), Session 4 (May 17-June 4).

We are also in the process of staffing for a Garden Club and a Dance Club. All extracurricular activities will be in two to three-week sessions.
